"Marking Pictures:" Clementine Hunter Exhibition on view at the Cabildo in New Orleans
The works of Gilley’s Gallery’s favorite artist, Clementine Hunter, are currently on display at the cabildo in New Orleans! The exhibition” Marking Pictures: the Life and Work of Clementine Hunter” takes its title from Clementine Hunter herself, who called painting "marking." Hunter produced an astonishing number of works during her lifetime, many that captured life on Melrose in Louisiana. The museum will display over 50 of Hunter's works, including her quilts. The exhibit also features very rarely seen works of Hunter's, particularly her abstract works of the 1960s. The exhibition is currently on display and the museum plans to keep the exhibit up into 2022. Head over to the Louisiana State Museum's website, linked below, to learn more about the exhibition.
