Carolyn Ramsey Biography

Texas native and photographer Carolyn Ramsey spent years trekking across North America writing articles and taking photographs for a multitude of publications, adding to her resumé, positions at The Saturday Evening Post, Reader's Digest and Holiday. She later spent time working for the U.S. State Department's International Information Agency as a writer-photographer. Over the years, she developed a friendship with Francois Mignon, who worked closely with famed Louisiana folk artist Clementine Hunter. Mignon eventually introduced the two, and during the 1940s and 50s, Ramsey photographed Hunter and wrote multiple articles about the popular artist. Later in life, Ramsey spent time on her ranch in Marshall, Texas and Pirates Alley in New Orleans.
