Facebook Post Colette Pope Heldner "Swamp Idyll"
June 15, 2018

While Colette Pope Heldner was most popular for her cherished French Quarter, New Orleans scenes, she also sought inspiration from the Louisiana bayou. This painting perfectly captures a snapshot of life in the Louisiana Bayou. A warm, yellow sun dips down to end the day, while working men call out to the landing boats returning from a successful fishing day. Heldner’s depiction captures a sense of awe and peace for the nature of the bayou. It is as if we could step into the scene, hear the water splashing while birds cry above and see the iconic moss trees of the Louisiana Bayou Country. Heldner’s obvious love for Louisiana shines through her work! Enjoy the video and contact the gallery with questions!
