The Steamer Tennessee Belle traveling down river. This steamer was built in Paducah, Kentucky, 1923 and traversed the Mississippi River for most of it's working life until it burned at Natchez Island, three miles below Natchez, in early November 1942. In this painting we see the boat passing several cajun cabins at dusk. In the foreground we can see a man watching from his little dock.
