Biography:

Born in 1936, Royal Robertson spent most of his life in Louisiana. Robertson began drawing early on and even held a position as a sign painter. He had 11 children with his wife Adell during their time together, but when she left him after 20 years of marriage, it sent him into a "misogynistic rage." In his anger, Robertson began creating works using markers, paints, colored pencils and more on poster board, often times shining a negative light on women. He also suffered from several psychological challenges, including paranoia, which seemed to be evident in some of his work. "Prophet" Royal Robertson included religious and futuristic themes, spaceships, aliens, portraits of women, which sometimes were of Adell, in his work. Robertson passed away in 1977.
